Paul: What are you doing tonight? Do you want to see a movie?
폴: 오늘 저녁에 뭐해? 영화볼래?
Matthew: I can’t. I have to hit the books.
매튜: 아니. 공부해야 돼.
Paul: But our exams aren’t until another two weeks.
폴: 하지만 시험 보려면 2주나 더 있어야 하는데.
Matthew: I know but I missed a lot of classes when I was laid up in bed for a week.
매튜: 그래 알지만 아파서 일주일을 누워있는 동안 수업을 많이 빠져서.
Paul: We could study together. I have all the notes from those classes you missed.
폴: 나랑 같이 공부해도 돼. 네가 빠진 수업들 내가 필기해놓은 게 있으니까.
Matthew: That’s a good idea.
매튜: 그게 좋겠네.
Paul: Do you want to study at my place?
폴: 우리 집에서 공부할래?
Matthew: No, your apartment is too noisy.
매튜: 아니, 너희 아파트는 너무 시끄러워서.
Paul: Okay. Do you want to study at your house?
폴: 알았어. 너희 집에서 하고 싶어?
Matthew: Yes. It’s much quieter.
매튜: 응. 훨씬 조용하잖아.
Paul: What time do you want to start?
폴: 언제 시작할까?
Matthew: Let’s start a little after 6:00.
매튜: 6시 조금 지나서 시작하자.
Paul: Okay. I’ll see you then.
폴: 알았어. 그 때 보자.
기억할만한 표현
* laid up in bed: (병이나 부상으로) 침대에 누워있다
“She was laid up in bed with a broken leg.” (그녀는 다리 골절로 침대에 누워있습니다.)
* (one’s) place: ~의 집
“Let’s meet at my place before we go to the park.” (공원에 가기 전에 우리 집에서 만나자.)
* a little after (time): ~ 조금 후
“The meeting started a little after 7:00.” (회의는 7시 조금 지난 후 시작했습니다.)
