An old man went fishing at a park pond and caught a whole bucket full of fish.

Someone from the neighborhood reported him, and soon a police officer arrived.

"Do you have a fishing license?" the officer asked.

"If you're fishing here without a license, you'll have to pay a fine and could even spend time in jail."

The old man calmly replied,

"I wasn't fishing."

The officer pointed at the bucket and said,

"Then what are all these fish doing in your bucket?"

The old man smiled.

"These are my pet fish. I keep them at home. Every now and then I bring them here to swim in the pond. When I whistle, they come right back and jump into my bucket."

The officer looked skeptical.

"Really?"

"Of course," said the old man. "Would you like me to show you?"

He dumped all the fish back into the pond.

A few minutes passed.

Finally, the officer said,

"Well... go ahead and whistle. Let's see your fish come back."

The old man looked at the officer with a puzzled expression and asked,

"What fish?"

한 노인이 공원 연못에서 낚시를 하다가 양동이 가득 물고기를 잡았습니다.

동네 사람이 신고를 했고, 곧 경찰관이 도착했습니다.

"낚시 면허증 있으십니까?" 경찰관이 물었습니다.

"면허 없이 낚시를 하면 벌금을 내야 하고, 심지어 감옥에 갈 수도 있습니다."

노인은 태연하게 대답했습니다.

"낚시하러 간 게 아니었습니다."

경찰관은 양동이를 가리키며 말했습니다.

"그럼 이 물고기들은 양동이에 왜 있는 겁니까?"

노인은 미소를 지었습니다.

"이 물고기들은 제가 집에서 키우는 애완용 물고기입니다. 가끔씩 여기 연못에 데려와서 헤엄치게 해 줍니다. 제가 휘파람을 불면 바로 돌아와서 양동이 안으로 뛰어듭니다."

경찰관은 미심쩍은 표정을 지었습니다.

"정말요?"

"물론이죠." 노인이 말했습니다. "보여드릴까요?"

그는 물고기들을 모두 연못에 다시 던져 넣었습니다.

몇 분이 흘렀다.

마침내 경찰관이 말했다.

"자, 그럼 휘파람을 불어 보시죠. 물고기가 돌아오는지 한번 봅시다."

노인은 어리둥절한 표정으로 경찰관을 바라보며 물었다.

"무슨 물고기 말입니까?"
